主要从事量子场论、低维凝聚态物理理论、精确可解统计物理和场论模型等方向的理论研究和教学工作。1987年于美国伊利偌利大学获理论物理博士学位,1987年(经原国家教委批准)破格晋升为教授。曾参与八五国家攀登计划“九十年代理论物理重大前沿课题”,担任国家攀登计划“世纪之交理论物理重大前沿课题”专家组成员,主持过多项国家自然科学基金项目。曾于1994年获陕西省科学技术奖一等奖,1995年获全国优秀教师奖,2005年获陕西省科学技术奖二等奖。在《Physics Review Letters》、《Journal of High Energy Physics》、《Nuclear Physics B》、《Physics Review D》等学术刊物上发表论文100余篇。
